Training is prominent in the activities of CRRID, which has all the necessary and modern facilities needed for undertaking training programme successfully. CRRID regularly conducts short duration training courses throughout the calendar year on wide range of areas that are directly relevant to its research profile. In recent times, four areas, such as Banking and Finance, Devolution for Panchayati Raj, Reproductive Health, and Management of Urban Basic Services have been identified to focus CRRID’s efforts for capacity building through training at the grassroots. Training on other subjects is also imparted at CRRID on specific requests. The resource persons for the training programmes are the in-house faculty and experts drawn from diverse areas outside CRRID, such as the industry, academic institutions, government, professional organizations, international agencies and others. The participants for training courses at CRRID usually come from varied backgrounds in terms of academic qualification, on-the-job experience, training need and professional interest. Besides local participation, there has been substantial representation from states outside the region in the training courses at CRRID. Some selected courses also have been open to international participation as well. While most of such trainings are conducted at CRRID in Chandigarh, some, depending on the nature of the programme are also conducted in the field. The training programmes at CRRID have earned wide acclaim for their professional quality and utility.
