FACULTY AND STAFF

CRRID staff, inclusive of those in the Population Research Center (PRC), consists of employees in five main sections namely, Research, Administration, Support services (Library and Computers), Estate and Publications. Besides the core staff, there is also project specific staff, which is employed in the time bound research and intervention projects carried out by the Centre. The diverse background of research faculty at CRRID reflects the multidisciplinary orientation of research and action programmes at the Centre and is national in character. The Centre has a competitive and scientific system of recruitment into academic positions that are filled through open nationwide advertisements. A flexible system of promotion and performance assessment is adopted at the Centre, and the compensation packages to the staff are comparable to the best in academic sphere. The present academic structure at the Centre is organised into different levels and the core faculty is divided into four main categories namely, the Research Coordinator (RC), Associate Research Coordinator (ARC) and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) and Research Fellow (RF) equivalent to Professor, Associate Professor/Reader, Senior Lecturer, and equivalent to Assistant Professor/Lecturer in the University Grants Commission (UGC) grades respectively.

 Founder Director of the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID), Chandigarh. Mainly responsible towards CRRID being accorded the “National Status” in 1985 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, New Delhi. Setting up Population Research Centre (PRC) at CRRID by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India at CRRID. Through his efforts CRRID was granted special consultative status by the Economic and Social Council, United Nations, New York in February, 2005.
